Success Story: Kimberly Mitchell, Loving with Purpose

Image 4 with Belle and Blanc

It has been almost a year ago when Kimberly Mitchell sent me a copy of her book, Loving with Purpose. Since then, whenever I have the time I would take a few minutes and read through some of her sage advice on loving, living and starting to see things in a more purposeful way in dealing with people. In some fashion, I would say that her book has similarities with the book that I authored with the rest of the AMSDaily writers last July – the only huge difference is Kimberly’s book focuses solely on loving and maintain relationships with purpose.

Today, she shares with us her story – and one lucky reader shall receive a FREE copy of her book. Make sure to enter the giveaway at the bottom of the interview.

Please do visit Kimberly’s website at  http://www.lovingwithpurpose.com. She has a lot of information on her site which will definitely help you see love with purpose. You can also like her Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LovingwithPurpose.

Here is Kimberly’s purposeful story:

Alpha: What inspired you to write your latest book?

Kimberly: I was at a crossroads in my life and decided to write again. I actually wrote most of my life, but never a book. Once I made the decision to write, I had to figure out what subject matter I wanted to take on. Then one night, when I went out to dinner, I saw an older gentleman escort his wife to the table by putting his hand on the small of her back. That’s when it hit me; I would write about chivalry! Once I started writing, I couldn’t stop. The book took on a life of its own; covering topics from dating to blending, and more. I’m actually working on my second book now, along with blogging for others, offering presentations and speaking engagements.

Alpha: What have been the rewards and challenges of writing it?

Learning each and every task necessary to publish my own book. The second challenge was telling my story, while protecting anyone in my life by hurting them. I wanted to make sure I was genuine, honest, and responsible.

Alpha: What is the book’s core message?

The book is about a lot of things, but mainly it’s about a woman’s choices; her choices in dating or marriage, with her children, friends…even her finances! I talk about abuse, blending, discrimination, and religion, too. If there’s a choice for women to make, most likely she can find a section in the book covering that topic.

Alpha: What do readers need to know about you?

I am a woman with a purpose; to help women make better choices, while helping them realize their own self-worth.

Alpha: Any advice to a struggling writer?

Make a table of contents BEFORE writing so you follow the flow as thoughts come to mind. Research, learn, and then write.

Alpha: Where do you see book publishing is heading?

Self-publishing and audio books. When you go with traditional, you still have to do most of the marketing, which is the hardest part of the work. I tried to go traditional, but after almost ninety proposal packages I gave up. Now, after doing all the work, I’m grateful for what I’ve accomplished. My only regret is that I can’t share my work with many of the bookstores because of nontraditional.

Guest Post: Be Responsible – Use ‘Go Green’ Cleaning Products

More and more people in the modern world break with their habits and turn back to nature. Realizing all the upheaval that could fall upon the planet because of global warming and pollution, they begin to use alternative energy sources, to recycle their waste and use environmentally friendly cleaners. People are gradually realizing the need to ensure themselves and the next generation a cleaner planet and that this process requires effort and perseverance.

The process of establishing a greener and safer planet can start with a few simple steps and one of them is to start using detergents and chemicals that are effective and at the same time safe for our family and the environment as well. ‘Go green’ cleaning products are certainly the right choice because their usage offers several advantages for you, your children and home.

First, they are safe because they do not contain damaging or even dangerous chemicals, of which conventional detergents we use in everyday life are made. Usually, they include organic and natural ingredients and extracts from various plants; they do not irritate the skin, and you can use them even without gloves. However, they are uncompromising in dealing with pollution due to their active formulas, and you could be absolutely sure that your home is fresh and cleaned thoroughly.

The second advantage of these cleaners is that they are offered in extremely broad product range and you can clean practically any nook in your home – from burnt grease in the kitchen to dirty windows, from dusty carpets and mattresses to expensive antique furniture and all this with ease and in no time.

Apart from that, the Eco-friendly ingredients used in these products are fully biodegradable, without any harmful effect to the nature. Even their packaging is made of special materials in order to facilitate recycling and to minimize the possibility of damaging the environment.

Besides, you can be sure that the choice of these agents is very favorable for your budget. Most of them are available in large, comfortable and economical packages and their prices are affordable for every household. You can do comparison and make sure that the usage of green cleaning products is much cost-effective for you than the usage of traditional cleaners.

If you have decided to lead a healthy lifestyle with conscious care for the environment – air and water, it is time to take the responsibility. The ozone hole, harmful aerosols, CO2 are not just topics of discussion but issues we should deal with in order to keep the planet.

Remember that cleaning the house can be done mainly with the means at hand – for example, windows can be washed with water and towel; other surfaces you can clean with water and lemon. Besides, the good ventilation will score the fresh air and expel many of the microorganisms and dust you need to get rid of.

Be committed to the safety of people and the environment. Choose formulas that are concentrated, soft and efficient. Look for detergents containing quickly and easily biodegradable active ingredients derived from plant materials. Cleaning the house and washing clothes with products that  do not contain any animal ingredients, phosphates and allergens is the best decision that you can make and that will ensure your family healthy and fresh environment at home.

Well, the requirements are many, but the end result is worth it. We may be a small piece of the universe, but it’s nice when that little piece lives the most natural and green way of life and contributes to the purity of the beautiful scenery with which we are integrally connected.

Who has a Pure Heart?

Photo of Ria G. Rombaoa

By Buena Laoang

Few people find time to read. Few reflect and very few want to think over matters that do not directly affect their physical and material well-being.

Many times we become too consumed with the things before us, that we neglect to see behind these things, we neglect to evaluate their probable impact to us, or to other people.

Like the mom who rushed to office-because she needed to be on time at work; she did not see the the pathetic effect of it on her child, how the little one would have felt..how the baby carer would find it very hard to pacify the child…

Before saying it, think about it. Before acting it, first reason on it. In everything be conscious and use the godly intellect that heaven has bestowed us. That will lessen apologies, that will avoid troubles and make things right.

Only a heart that is pure can be able to go and do, without too many considerations. Because it knows about what it carries.

The mom who goes to office, if she will kindle purity of heart, would know that she has to wake up much too early, to be able to leave ample hugs and kisses to her child, an assurance that she will be back and the motherly love stays, even in the while she is a distance away.

But when we become too busy, we neglect on these things.

We have to strive cultivating a pure heart. “A pure heart, that’s what I long for,” as a Christian song says… “A heart that follows hard after Thee.”

Who has a pure heart? The heart that is open to speak to God at night and tell everything. The heart that seeks only to glorify God and forget about itself and is ready to tell truth anytime. The heart that if it has to admit overlooked faults or misgivings, will be very ready to say “I am sorry Lord… please help me up.. purify my heart.”

(Yes, Lord…I love you for this second discourse. Purify the intention to share the wisdom that comes from having a personal relationship with you. Amen.)

Stop Trying to Help where it’s not Wanted

Take the opportunity today to Stop trying to help where it’s not wanted.

Sometimes people aren’t ready to be helped and you’ll only frustrate yourself. We’ve all been there, trying to offer the right advice at the right time except it’s being rejected.

You can see what’s going on, it’s obvious what needs to happen, you explain it clearly but your advice falls on deaf ears. Why is that?

Because the person you are trying to help is not ready to be helped. And you know what? We’ve all been in that place ourselves. If you really thought about it, you’d remember a time when you weren’t ready for someone’s help even though you knew it was the right thing. It may have been when you were a child and you were trying to ride your bike – you didn’t want your dad holding you in case you fell, you wanted to do it on your own.

Although this is frustrating to the helper, sometimes it’s exactly what’s required as sometimes people have to just figure it out for themselves.

So, offer help but accept when it’s not heeded.

Be a Thermostat and not a Thermometer

Take the opportunity today to be a thermostat and not a thermometer.

One sets the environment the other reads it. I learned this from Mary Morrisey.

What do I mean by that? Well, if you find yourself reacting to the hassles of everyday life, never knowing what’ll show up, then you are being a thermometer. It’s all happening ‘out there’ and you react accordingly. Of course there’s an awful lot happening ‘out there’, for ALL of us. However, if you are making the decisions, being proactive instead of reactive you are creating the circumstances of your life. You’re setting your environment like a thermostat.

I know, I know, not all the time, not in every circumstance – even a hermit living in a cave is subject to the weather. But the more you set your own circumstances, the more you take responsibility for what is happening to you and how you react to it, the more control you will feel. That’s what we want after all, isn’t it? To feel in control of our own lives.

Consider today whether you are acting as much like a thermostat as you could. If not, take charge of how things make you feel. Decide how you want to feel.
