Be Patient

The other day, I had a hard time cleaning a pan with remains of noodles in it. The noodles had dried up, I tried hard for some time, then poured some water in the pan and kept it aside.

The water helped the dried up remains get loosen up, and the pan got cleaned easily.

While pouring water in the pan, it occurred to me that life is no different.

Whenever there’s something remaining back, which we don’t like, we immediately try to clean that up. And guess what, we almost, always, face a hard time, because things have dried up.

It need not be like that, at least not every time.

You can make the process easy and much more effective. All you need to do is pour some water (patience)

Most of the times, patience is what you need to clean the mess.

You see, patience is not at all necessary. It is just an option, but certainly a better one.

When things are going wrong, stop trying hard. It will only make things worse.

Bring in some patience instead, and who knows, you might amaze yourself.

No, Thank you?

Dear Alpha,

I was wondering- taking myself back to that time you asked me if I could contribute to this site- what if I said, “No, thank you.”

Given my current occupation at that time- having committed myself to fulltime house chores and family duties- I think I gave hints in my letter to you of my hesitation, but in the end I remember, I was still led to say “yes”.

And now, we are on the first year anniversary of AMSDaily!  It’s been one year of working together. It’s been a year of exchanges between us, weekly posts, and a year-round of inspiration inside a friendship.

Should I have just said, “No, thank you” when you invited me to it, would I have had:

  1. Exchanged little but warm talks with blog friends I don’t see, but shared thoughts with me on a weekly basis, and learned from them definitely?
  2. Organized my experiences in such a manner that they turned out to be pages of learning, and challenges to some other people?
  3. Been able to utilize my internet time to a very good cause- to inspire?
  4. The chance to receive comments from around the globe that tell me I moved them or that the post spoke to them, that particular Wednesday, somehow?
  5. Felt genuinely appreciated for what I do, inspired to inspire by you and the team, and on its  1st blogaversary, to be one of the writers of the first AMS Best Inspirational book, and also, personally grow as this site grows.
  6. Would I have maintained a relationship with someone like you that goes beyond friendship- that one called, fellowship-because we aren’t together at one location but our hearts speak one statement- GET OUT AND INSPIRE.

Would I have had- if I said no? For today, I have attained it all with you, because I said YES.

I am grateful, Alpha. As I said, to be in this friendship is an honor. To be part of a purpose I am personally tied to- is fulfillment.  To work it out with a loving heart has its overflowing rewards. And to be one year and not noticing it, is certainly a “Wow!”

CHALLENGE TO AMS READERS: What’s one word to describe your feelings about AMSDaily since that day you said yes to it?

Happy anniversary to all of us in AMSDaily!

Cheers,

Buena

Take the Opportunity Today: Write a List of Things You’re Good At

Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom. – by Aristotle

Take the opportunity today to write a list of things you are good at. The longer, the better!

Most of us find it easy to be critical of the things we think we can’t do when in actual fact there’s a ton of stuff that we do day in day out that we’re good at.

Today let’s remember all those things.

Make the list as long as you can.

Put it somewhere you can easily lay your hands on it and the next time you hear yourself (or anyone else) say you can’t do something read that list.

Keep the positive at the front of your mind, the negative you can work on.

 Cheers!

Take the Opportunity: Help a Neighbour

A man is called selfish not for pursuing his own good, but for neglecting his neighbor’s – by Richard Whately

It’s a bit of a coincidence that this guide has popped up this morn- ing as I’ve already had one of my neighbours come around today. She was collecting her spare key as we were looking after her cat and rabbit whilst she was away. In our doorstep conversation she men- tioned she didn’t get a job she had recently applied for and was now in a quandary as to what direction to next take. I mentioned I had some pertinent information that might help her clear her mind and that I’d send it to her via email.

That’s my next task once I have finished writing here.

You might find that the opportunity to help one of your own neigh- bours needs to be orchestrated somewhat rather than it have fall in your lap. I urge you to consider it, there might be an elderly or injured neighbour that needs some shopping or their grass cut. Someone might need a lift to the doctor’s urgently, or even as in my case someone to look after their pet for a couple of days. Extend your hand, put yourself out and help. This is how communities are built and friends made.

Take the oppotunity. Help a neighbor today!
