Consider All of Your Labels

Take the opportunity today to consider all of your labels.

I don’t mean the ones in the back of your shirt or blouse. I mean the ones that you and other people tag you with; mum, wife, volunteer, colleague, writer, coach – whatever they are. Write them all down, as many as you can think of. Ask, your spouse or your kids or your friends to help identify them for you if you need to.

Once you have that list give it a read through. Understand what each of those labels mean to you and to everyone that knows you. Realise how connected you are through those labels. Realise how important you are to all of those people.

Now realise that you are not just those labels. You are any label you want to be. Consider what other labels you would like to be defined by.

Champion Skydiver maybe? Successful Business Owner? Mover and Shaker in the field of [xyz]? Guitar Legend? Explorer?

You get the idea – you are unlimited.

Do One Thing at a Time

Take the opportunity today to do one thing at a time.

After a dinner party you look at the clearing up and think: ‘God where do I start?’ But you start. You start somewhere, anywhere and you keep going until a couple of hours later everything is clear and tidy again.

Overwhelm is a huge influencer of inertia. Not knowing where to start can hinder us from starting at all. It’s tempting to think that all the great people of history that ever achieved anything had it all figured out. Well they didn’t! Most of them anyhow, were just like you and me except they got past their overwhelm. They just started and then figured out the next step, then the next. Sometimes it became apparent they took the wrong step so they went back and started again. That’s not a waste of time.

Not starting, procrastinating – that’s a waste of time.

So get going, start, get moving.

Once the train is in motion it takes less and less energy to keep it in motion.

What is Stopping you from Getting what you Want?

Take the opportunity today to consider what is stopping you from getting what you want.

Do you ever wonder what is stopping you? Do you think it’s outside influences? Do you think that other people’s decisions affect your life more than your decisions? Think again. You are holding on to the steering wheel of your life, of course if you see a pothole steer around it. If you hit a pothole and bust a tyre, stop, get it fixed, then continue.

Your decisions are what make your life. They dictate your circumstances way more than any other outside occurrences. Now take some time and figure out what is stopping you make the decisions that will take you towards the life you desire.

Imagine You Could Talk to Anyone from History

Take the opportunity today to imagine you could talk with anyone from history. What would you ask them?

Can you imagine how brilliant that would be? Anyone at all. Ask them anything. What would you ask? More importantly, how would they answer? That is the point of this exercise. Allow your subconscious to decide how you think that incredible person from history would answer your question.

Get a pad, write your question down, then sit for a while imagining in as much detail as possible that person from history answering. Write their answer under your question. Write it as quickly as possible – ask them to slow down for you if you need to, they will. But capture their answer as quickly as it comes so that your own mind doesn’t try and filter or censor it.

This is a great way to tap into your own wisdom and intuition.
