“ A true friend never gets in your way unless you happen to be going down. ” - Arnold H. Glasgow
Those that scoff and are negative about your dreams will hold you back. You know the ones, it’s possible they’re your closest friends. Why do they do it? Partly because they don’t want to see you fail, but partly because they don’t want you to succeed. If you succeed there’s a possibility you’ll leave them behind. Not because you want to but because your life will lead you down different paths than before – paths which they will not be able to follow.
So, whilst you can’t throw friendships away just because you become successful, consider carefully who’s company you want to spend time in if you really do want to change your life. Good friends will be inspired by your success and may even model it to become successful themselves.

I just read this quote a few moments ago on a Pinterest board:
Friendship isn’t about whom you have known the longest, it’s about who came and never left your side. . .
To me that follows your words very closely for those that are true friends allow that friendship to grow through the successes as well as the failures.
Amen to both the post, and comment from Sharla!
I am very blessed to have many good friends. And I always say it is because we have seen the “uglies” in each other and have decided the good is far more impacting.
That’s true also, our friends stay with us ‘despite’ our uglies! They accept us for who we are. Thanks so much for the comment.
Thanks Sharla, our real friends will be the ones that support us in our endeavours even if that means they lose us for a while.
So true Stu! Few years ago I just realized this. I am one of the friendliest people you’ll know. Gaining a lot of friends is great but keeping real and true friends is priceless – that’s very genuine and authentic!
If we are lucky enough to be able to count real friends on the fingers of one hand then we are indeed fortunate.
I, too, believe!
Good for you Beuna,
