7 Wonders of the World by a Child

Photo of Ria Geraban Rombaoa

Some students were asked to list what they thought were the present “Seven Wonders of the World.” Though there were some disagreements, the following received the most votes:

1. Egypt’s Great Pyramids

2. Taj Mahal

3. Grand Canyon

4. Panama Canal

5. Empire State Building

6. St. Peter’s Basilica

7. China’s Great Wall

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student had not finished her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The girl replied, “Yes, a little. I couldn’t quite make up my mind because there were so many.”

The teacher said, “Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help.” The girl hesitated, then read, “I think the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’ are:

1. To See

2. To Hear

3. To Touch

4. To Taste

5. To Feel

6. To Laugh

7. And to Love.”

The room was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. The things we overlook as simple and ordinary and that we take for granted are truly wondrous!

Editor’s Note: What you just read is a post from I Travel With my Heart. The first time I read it I just had the feeling to share it. Thus, I just did! I hoped you enjoyed it as much as I did.

It is through a child’s eyes that the world becomes new and full of wonder once again. Thank you for sharing.

  22. Beautiful. Children have a constant simple truth that somehow gets lost as we get older. Wow!

You have stopped by twice and liked the last two posts that I have written. I am trying to keep up with this new blog that I started, but sometimes I am a little slow. I new the moment when I arrived here tonight, that I was going to like this place and have to come back here often! This is my kind of place.

Well I am not sure this comment makes any sense, because I am past my bedtime tonight, but What a wonderful post and kids are so often wiser than we are as adults. Glad you like my blog and I look forward to keeping up with yours.
    Peace and Harmony
