Parol (pronounced as puh – rol with an emphasis on the ‘r’) is considered as a traditional Filipino Chritmas decoration, originally a five-point star Christmas lantern. To me it means, one thing: light of hope.
When I see a parol I know that somehow, somewhere there is hope.
Let this be your reminder that indeed hope can be felt and it can be found. Just believe in it!![]()

Yes…believe in Hope. Thanks for the reminder
Handstitch – I’m glad! We could always use hope!
I miss the Parol! It is really very unique & very Filipino!
I do too, that’s why whenever I see one around here, I know it symbolizes something: hope!
I love the lights and glad to learn about Parol too. TY!
This is the first year since 2002 that I didn’t hang our parol. Thanks for hanging a virtual one for me.
