The title is screaming loud! PLEDGE FOR EDUCATION!!!
Why wouldn’t it be loud? We’ve waited for almost a month to finally launch our baby, our pledge and our commitment to helping high school students who are underprivileged but are willing to learn! We believe by sharing what we have, we will be able to continue to help these students to get their education and finish their education, without worrying how to pay for tuition fee.
And why WE? Who are WE?
Thirty former students of the Tarlac College of Agriculture-LHS, Batch ’98 are willing to share their blessings, their time and effort to support selected students of the school to help pay their tuition fee. Thirty former students of the Tarlac College of Agriculture-LHS, Batch ’98 understand the value of education and its correlation to future success. We understand how it takes to finance your education. We’ve been there, done that! We truly know the sacrifices and the struggles to maintain a good education. Thus, THIRTY of us - are willing and are pledging for education!
Background of this project:
When I first came up with the idea of PLEDGE FOR EDUCATION, I wanted to make it memorable: 30 for $30 = 3,000.
This year I will be turning thirty, and to mark my 30th year of blessed living (and with God’s grace, hopefully many more) I wanted to invite 30 of my former classmates and high school batchmates, to pledge $30 each to help pay the unpaid tuition fee of about twenty-two students of the TCA-LHS in Camiling, Tarlac this school year – thus the formula 30 for $30.
Now, what is the 3,000 for?
My vision is by December 25, 2011 – this blog will have either 3,000 subscribers or/and 3,000 fans on Facebook. Yes, it is quite a long way to go from September to December - however, everytime a fan and/or a subscriber joins AMS on facebook or on this blog, we will donate .40 USD cents for each, with a maximum of 3,000 fans/subscribers by Christmas this year. This money will go towards the education of these high school students.
What, if you are not part of the Thirty PLEDGERS but would like to also pledge?
This is not quite limited to TCA-LHS Batch ’98 – we will open this to anybody, anyone who would like to pledge $30 once we hit the 3,000 mark before the deadline. As soon as we hit 3,000 before December 25, 2011 – we will open this pledge for anybody who is interested – so, we can donate and help more students at the TCA-LHS who can not afford to pay their tuition fee.
If you are currently a student of the TCA-LHS and would like to avail of this opportunity, here are some requirements:
1. You must be officially enrolled at the TCA-LHS SY 2011-2012.
2. You must have all passing grades. The first twenty two slots are available according to grade averages.
3. Your parents are really having a hard time paying your tuition fee – but you are excluded if you have parent/s who is/are employed by the college, if your parents are both working and if your socioeconomic status is above average.
4. No need for formal applications. A teacher in charge (Ms. Sharon Michelle Buhatin) will identify and determine who among the student population need it the most!
How will you know we’ve reached our goal?
Every week I will post on this blog what is our current number. As of today, we have already 82 Facebook Fans and also 117 blog subscribers.
We are asking either to have 3,000 Facebook fans OR 3,000 blog subscribers by December 25, 2011. Which ever comes first between the two is what we will honor. But the magic number is 3,000! So, please get us up there!
